Rubber Lips and a New Stick

Rubber Lips and a New Stick

It had been way too long since I had caught a carp! I also had a new (to me) rod that I needed to break in and I was curious to see if the mojo from the old owner was transferable. The rod in question? A Sage VT2 697-4 (9′ 6” 4 piece with fighting butt). I say this all the time and ¬†at the point I sound like a broken record… But, Sage’s VT2 series is without a doubt the sleeper in their rod lineup. I’m not a huge fan of the blue blank but who really cares and it’s kinda growing on me. Which is probably a good thing since now I own three, I also have a 9′ 10 wt and 9′ 7 wt as well as the new 9′ 6” 6 wt. If you thinking about getting away from the ultra fast action and super premium prices of rods and slow you roll a little they are defiantly worth a cast. The VT2 697-4 was simply killer lined up with a Scientific Angler XXD 7wt line. So far I’m very please and I think my 691-4 XP with have a long awaited break after years of abuse and two section replacements.

Seriously Mike, you sold a rod, and a VT2 no less, simply because of it’s blue color! What are you a sissy she man or what? I bet you paint your finger nails too! haha
